On Friday, Feb. 19, Vista welcomed Marlee, the 2016 Wish Kid, during the closing assembly of Wish Week.
Before the beginning of the assembly, the Vista community raised over $62,000, which was the total amount raised last year, to support Marlee’s wish. Marlee’s wish is rare because instead of a wish to go, she made a wish to give. She wants to raise money to make Build-A-Bears for children in the hospital.
The assembly marked the first time Vista met Marlee, who was accompanied by her family and some of her closest friends.
Be a Good Person representatives, Julian Donaldson and Darian Simon, also came to support Marlee and her wish. The BAGP shirts StudLe sold during Wish Week marks the first time in Vista history that a company has endorsed a child’s wish.
There was a Miracle Minute during the assembly and there will be another at the Mountain Vista, ThunderRidge basketball game.
The rivalry matchup begins at 7 p.m. in the Vista main gym. Come sporting your wish shirt and bring money to donate at the half.
