Description: “Recently formed grunge rock band, Violet’s Gun proudly present their first electrifying album, ‘Viva II Duce’ that will have you headbanging and tapping your feet till the end of your days.”

Before I even heard about Violet’s Gun in Mountain Vista’s hallways, I was a fan of grunge rock music; the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana are three of my favorite bands of all time, so when I interviewed the band members for a feature story and heard them say that those same three bands inspired their work, I knew it was going to be amazing.

Their first single’s (“Trigger Finger”) great beat, masterful guitar work, on-point drumming and immaculate vocals were all more than enough to spark fans’ anticipation for their first album, but what “Viva II Duce” provided was far better than fans expected:

It is hard for me to describe Violet’s Gun’s first album because it is truly unlike anything I have ever heard before. The songs all have a completely unique and uncommon style; not a single one of them sounds like the others and the song’s lyrics all have different messages and themes.

McCombs’ lead vocals and guitar work, Cook’s drumming, Knoll’s rhythm playing and Elliott’s work on the bass guitar are a match made in heaven. They all do an absolutely fantastic job of immersing themselves into their roles in the band and it becomes clear that each of the band members put an incalculable amount of effort into this album.

It was so hard for me to choose the best songs on the album because they are all amazing, but after listening to the album for a fourth time, I have concluded that “Trigger Finger”, “One to One”, “Heaven Is Gone”, “Old Days”, and “Broken Drums” are the highlights of the album. “Broken Drums” is my favorite song on the album due to the 1980’s rock vibe I felt when I listened to it, but the solemn theme presented in “Heaven Is Gone”, the cheerful melody of “Old Days”, the extremely catchy beats of “Trigger Finger” and breathtaking passion of “One to One” all had me mesmerized.

I could not find anything to complain about in this album; it is perfect in pretty much every way and I feel more than confident in saying anyone who purchases or listens to this album will not regret it. “Viva II Duce” is going to get an “A+++” from me for it’s diversity, ingenuity, creativity, uniqueness and effort.

“Viva II Duce” is available for purchase on iTunes for $10, but it can also be streamed for free on Spotify and YouTube. Anyone who is interested in a CD copy of the album (available for $5) or a Violet’s Gun t-shirt (available for $15) please see or contact Jack McCombs, Eric Cook, Hendrick Knoll or Peyton Elliott.
