Taylor Swift Concert Preview

Taylor+Swift+Concert+Preview

Since her debut album in 2006, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has dominated charts and people’s hearts. As such an artist who sings about common issues among teens, fans from around the world continue to keep even her oldests hits, such as “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story”, on their car stereos and music libraries. Recently, she strayed from her old, country style and ventured into a rock tone. For all 28,164,271 listeners on Spotify and counting that have stuck with her through thick and thin, from country to pop, Swift will be coming to Sports Authority Field to perform on May 25th.

Swift’s new album, “Reputation”, featuring hits like “Look What You Made Me Do” and “…Ready for It?”, will be the main event of the concert, but her oldest hits may make a reappearance during the show. The album, straying from her old “girl-next-door” persona, is a power move against those who have wronged her in the past. Her newly-adopted attitude earned the album $1.2 million in its first week, making it the best opening week of any album released in 2017. “Reputation” also became the fastest selling album to top the charts on iTunes and is 2017’s top-selling album.

Opening the show will be Charli XCX and Camila Cabello, a dynamic duo that backs Swift’s new sound perfectly, performing popular songs such as “Havana” by Cabello and “Boys” by Charli XCX.

The venue, normally used for the Denver Broncos football games, holds nearly 76,125 people, making for a packed audience. Several students from Mountain Vista are planning on attending the show, including sophomores Chloe Yets and Lauren Cowie

“[Lauren Cowie and I] got tickets at the end of March so we’ve been really excited since then,” Yets said. “It’s been especially exciting because it’s the last day of school and the concert is going to be a great way to kick off the summer.”

“We listen to her music whenever [Yets and I] are together,” Cowie said. “It’s been something we’ve bonded over.”

For all “Swifties”, the concert will surely be an opportunity for attendees to jam out to their favorite new and old Taylor Swift songs.
