Thursday, Jan. 21, Mountain Vista Girls’ Swim and Dive team held their last home meet for the 2015-2016 season. For seniors, it would be their last high school home meet. Nicked named among the team the “Senior Meet,” the team honored their swimmers and divers one last time on home turf before they left the team and high school.
“It was really hard to think of it as ending. You build such strong bonds with all the girls you are competing with [and] just remembering all the stuff you’ve gone through to get to where you are today; it’s sad to think of that as ending, and it’s really hard to think you have to say goodbye to it all,” senior Reilly McGavern said. “It’s been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a sport. I’ve never had a coach who has cared so much about me and has worked so hard with me to accomplish so much in all the seasons that he has been here. It means a lot to have someone like that.” Coach Rob was more than glad to say a few words to the girls saying goodbye to the team, stopping the meet to announced their names and what they meant to him.
There are six seniors on the team this year: Megan Callister, Savannah Raisor, Georgia Gallagher, Maddie Worley, Shiyue Zhang, and Reilly McGavern.
