SAVANAH HOWARD AND LAUREN LIPPERT
Internet sensation Shawn Mendes was in Colorado Friday, April 17, performing at Ogden Theatre for hundreds of screaming girls who had only seen his face on their phone screens.
Freshman Alex Schnakenburg and Kiley Krosky attended the concert with VIP access. Since he first became big on Vine, both girls had been hooked on his voice. They got to finally meet their idol after waiting two years. “I just was really happy. He’s really attractive and a really good singer,” Schnakenburg said.
Krosky and Schnakenburg got emotional when he played his hits “Show You,” “Something Big,” and “Life of the Party” from his new album, “Handwritten.” “[He was] amazing and emotional; [Shawn] made me cry.” Krosky said.
Although freshman Megan Borchardt was not VIP she enjoyed the concert just as much. “[My favorite part of the concert was] when he sang without the microphone. I’ve never seen that before, it was unique,” Borchardt said.
