Prosecutors have filed adult charges against the second 16-year-old student to be involved with threats plotting to murder faculty and students at Mountain Vista High School.
Brooke Higgins and Sienna Johnson are now both set to undergo trial as adults for two charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Higgins’ hearing came after Johnson’s as the judge awaited the completion of her psychiatric evaluation before allowing for charges to be filed.
Authorities have released information stating that Higgins and Johnson both obtained detailed maps of Mountain Vista which included the location of security officers and other specific individuals who were posted to protect students and faculty.
Details of the attacks will not be released by a judge until both individuals are undoubtedly charged as adults. Authorities report that the plans revolved around inflicting “mass casualties” to Mountain Vista.
Prosecutors claim Johnson referred to “NBK” or “Natural Born Killers” in her journals, as did Johnson both in her journal and on her Tumblr, which was taken down soon after her apprehension.
Higgins, also like Johnson, is reported to have written about Columbine High School. Higgins claimed she wished she could have been involved with the attacks that killed 12 students and one teacher in 1999.
Higgins and Johnson were stopped by a Text-A-Tip submitted by a student that reported the potential threat.
The two girls are now both being held on $1 million bail.
Though Johnson is reported to not show any signs of remorse, Higgins reportedly broke down in court upon hearing the details of her bond. The Denver Post reports her father consoled her by rubbing her arm and handing her tissues.
