On Thursday, the varsity football team took the field at Shea Stadium to face Chaparral High School.
The Wolverines and Golden Eagles kept the game close for the first quarter, during which Chaparral took the lead, 14-7. The Golden Eagles managed to slide their last touchdown in at the beginning of the second quarter, but Chaparral answered by putting nine more points on the board, leaving the score at, 23-14, going into halftime.
For the remainder of the game, Vista gradually lost ground, allowing the Wolverines to widen the gap and defeat the Eagles, 39-14.
The team’s defeat leaves its season record at 3-4 going into their next game against Pomona High School on Friday.
