Featured Hike: Matthews/Winters Park

Nestled just beside Red Rocks in the Jefferson County Open space lies Matthews and Winters Park which offers a variety of trails for bikers, hikers and equestrians all with breathtaking views.

Boasting 1,084 acres and 6 different trails ranging from 0.6 miles to 2.8 miles that interconnect with Red Rocks Park there are trails suitable for nearly everyone.

Scenic Route- Village Walk Trail to Morrison Slide Trail to Red Rocks Trail:

  1. Start on the Village Walk Trail (begins at the parking area) and walk for 0.3 miles.
  2. Continue straight onto Red Rocks Trail for 0.8 miles.
  3. At the fork go right for the Morrison Slide Trail, hike this for 1.2 miles.
  4. After 1.2 miles keep left at the fork to loop back to the Red Rocks Trail, take Red Rocks Trail all the way back to  Village Walk Trail.

 

Distance: Approx. 4 Miles out and back

Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate

Duration: 1-2.5 hours

Activities: Hiking, Sightseeing, Picnicking, Horseback Riding, Mountain Biking
